It’s Just a Matter of Time

Bajo el título It’s Just a Matter of Time*, el pabellón de los artistas invitados de ARCOmadrid 2020 se concibe como un espacio abierto donde explorar la condición temporal del enunciado de partida (Es sólo cuestión de tiempo). A modo de trasposición directa, los fundamentos conceptuales, políticos y sociales de las prácticas artísticas contemporáneas se materializan en una planta libre y permeable; una distribución que favorece la participación del público y la comprensión de unas relaciones múltiples entre los trabajos seleccionados.

En este ámbito, el espacio de la feria diluye la modalidad del stand para adoptar una arquitectura inclusiva, con un recorrido continuo a través de los objetos expuestos. Frente al diseño expositivo de las ferias de arte desarrolladas mediante stands y recorridos cerrados, ahora, el planteamiento relacional entre el público y las obras se materializa por medio de un recinto sin particiones y de clara condición centrípeta, un oasis abierto que estimula la participación del visitante. It’s Just a Matter of Time surge del propósito base de detener el ritmo de la visita y ofrecer un nuevo modo de entender la arquitectura de la exposición ferial.

* El título de la exposición It’s Just a Matter of Time toma el nombre de la obra de Félix González-Torres, artista visual estadounidense-cubano a quien se dedicó este espacio.

It’s Just a Matter of Time

It’s Just a Matter of Time is the special proposal in the edition ARCOmadrid 2020. The project analyses the Felix Gonzalez-Torres's influence on contemporary art practices. It is conceived as an open space in which to explore the temporal dimension of the title. The conceptual and political foundations of contemporary art practices are directly transposed into a permeable and open space, a layout that encourages public participation and fosters understanding the interrelationship between the selected pieces.

In this section, the fair space dilutes the stand modality to adopt an inclusive architecture, with a continuous journey through the exhibited objects. In contrast to the art fairs with closed stands and tours, now, the relational approach between the public and the works is materialized through an space without partitions and with a clear centripetal condition, an open oasis that encourages the participation of the public. It’s Just a Matter of Time arises from the basic purpose of reducing the rhythm of the visit and offering a new way of understanding the architecture of the fair exhibition.

* The title of the exhibition It’s Just a Matter of Time takes the name of the work of Félix González-Torres, a Cuban-American visual artist to whom this space was dedicated.
